1.3 Location Information

SnapQR may request location access for:

Important: Location access is entirely optional and can be disabled in your device settings. The app functions fully without location permissions.

1.4 Camera and Photo Library Access

  • Camera: Required for scanning QR codes and barcodes in real-time
  • Photo Library: Optional access to scan QR codes from existing images
  • Photo Saving: Permission to save generated QR codes to your device

We do not upload or store any photos or camera data without your explicit consent.

If you create an account and enable cloud sync:

  • Your scan history can be synced across devices

  • You can disable cloud sync at any time
  • You can delete all cloud data from your account settings

4 QR Code Safety and Warnings

SnapQR includes safety features to protect you:

  • Phishing Detection: Warns about suspicious or malicious URLs
  • Safe Browsing: Integration with Google Safe Browsing API
  • Content Warnings: Alerts for potentially harmful content
  • Manual Confirmation: Requires your approval before opening external links
User Responsibility: While we provide safety features, always be cautious when scanning QR codes from unknown sources. We cannot guarantee the safety of all external content.

5 Third-Party Services

SnapQR integrates with the following third-party services:

5.1 Analytics

  • Google Analytics for Firebase: Anonymous usage statistics and crash reporting
  • No personally identifiable information is shared
  • You can opt out of analytics in app settings

5.2 Barcode Product Database

  • Third-party APIs for product information lookup
  • Only barcode numbers are sent, not personal data

6 Your Rights and Choices

6.2 Delete Data

  • Clear individual scan entries at any time
  • Clear entire scan history with one tap
  • Delete your account and all associated cloud data
  • Uninstalling the app deletes all local data

  • Enable/disable scan history saving
  • Enable/disable cloud sync
  • Opt out of analytics and crash reporting
  • Choose personalized or non-personalized ads
  • Disable location access

6.4 Camera and Permissions

7 Data Retention

  • Local Data: Retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app

  • Deleted Accounts: All cloud data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion

8 Children's Privacy

SnapQR is suitable for all ages, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or 16 in Europe) without parental consent.

  • The app can be used without creating an account
  • No personal information is required for basic functionality
  • Parents should supervise children's use of QR code scanning
For Parents: If your child has provided personal information without consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
